On Breaking News

As I sit here monitoring the AP news wire, the cable and local news websites, and over a dozen news related Twitter feeds, I know it makes me a hypocrite to say what I am about to say.

This really is too much folks.

Yes, the news junkie is complaining about the ability to get a constant fix and even share a bit of my stash with the rest of the news junkies around the world. The pipeline is always on, always flowing wide, and mostly pushing placebos. And we’re beginning to feel the same satisfaction for fluff news as we do true life changing events, just because we are getting (and giving) access to it to constantly.

I write this as ‘sources’ have let it be known about 3 hours before President Obama actually announces his pick to fill the soon to be vacant slot on the Supreme Court, a decision the news media I am a part of has told the nation it has been waiting on since Friday. Honestly, I ways just hoping to not have to grill my own hot dogs for Memorial Day (I didn’t), and was curious, but not enthralled, with the coverage.

Be prepared for more complaints about breaking/developing/working news stories from me, my personal pet peeve of the business I have chosen to be a part of.
